Utah’s San Juan County is a land of contrasts at the heart of the Colorado Plateau, where tremendous geologic activity has created a unique desert and mountain environment. Covered with deep canyons and high mountains there is a 10,000-foot difference in elevation throughout San Juan County, the La Sal Mountains rise to over 13,000 feet (3,962.4 meters) and Lake Powell is close to 3,000 feet (914.4 meters).
