Utah’s San Juan County is a land of contrasts at the heart of the Colorado Plateau, where tremendous geologic activity has created a unique desert and mountain environment. Covered with deep canyons and high mountains there is a 10,000-foot difference in elevation throughout San Juan County, the La Sal Mountains rise to over 13,000 feet (3,962.4 meters) and Lake Powell is close to 3,000 feet (914.4 meters). With this elevation change comes drastic changes in geology, biology, and opportunities for outdoor adventure.
